We bought Dreaming
On in Belize in October 2008.
Dreaming On is a
Leopard 47 catamaran built in Cape Town,
South Africa and delivered to the Mooring charter fleet in
Belize in 2003,so she was just over 5 years old when we took delivery.
We
travelled to Belize in May 2008 to view her and be present for the survey,
then travelled back to Belize to collect her at the end of September 2008.
She
comes with 4 cabins, heads and showers and we have now converted one of
these cabins to storage, where we also have a freezer, washing machine,
watermaker and ice-maker. This still leaves us with 3 usable cabins so we
comfortably sleep 6. The salon table also converts to a double if
necessary.
The
cockpit is a masterpiece and we have regularly had 12+ people on board for
breakfasts and dinners while in Fort Lauderdale.
The
salon dinette seats 8.
The
raised helm seat gives an excellent all round view for maneuvering and
docking with easy access out onto the raised deck for final engine only
docking.
When
we collected her from Belize, she had the minimum of equipment on board.
We have added a great deal of equipment over the last year and she is now
a very good cruising boat.
We
have found her to be extremely stable in seas that would be very
uncomfortable in a monohull and at anchor when roll is minimised. There is
some occasional slap under the hull when a wave hits at the wrong angle
but that is usually avoidable. And we happily will trade that for the
monohull roll any time.
Much
as we enjoyed Dream On, we definitely made the right decision in changing
to a catamaran and a much newer boat.
