Our Second Sailing
Season was onboard our first boat, Dream On, a Beneteau
Oceanis 430 |
| |
Our plan to travel further afield to the British Virgin
Islands during 2005/2006 was scuppered by transmission failure in Norfolk in
November 2005.
This was followed by a prolonged installation of new engine and
transmission, then some teething problems with the new
installation. We finally left the USA from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on 1st April 2006.
During the short season we explored the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos,
returning to The Bahamas via the remote Hogsty Reef and Crooked Island.
Simon joined us in Nassau for a weeks sailing in the Exumas.

Cape Canaveral |
Cape Canaveral seemed a good choice of entry to the USA.
An easy, though busy, entry channel. A Customs port of entry, and a marina
that could haul the boat. Little did we know we would be there for three
weeks! A Shuttle launch from Cape Canaveral on July 4th was an unexpected
benefit. |
